At A Child's Garden of Thyme (ACGT), we strive to provide an ideal Early Childhood experience inspired by Waldorf education for preschool aged children from newborn to five years, in San Diego county. Our unique, garden-based program is founded on Waldorf Education principles and curriculum. In addition to loving and trained experienced teachers, our center features a natural, home-like environment for children to experience the world at their own pace and learn through their senses.
We offer:
- Two locations: North County and San Diego (opening fall 2012)
- A LifeWays Preschool Program inspired by Waldorf education (ages 0–5)
- Daycare inspired by the Waldorf approach (ages 0–5)
- Parent–Tot Program (ages 0–2½)
- Adult Art & Craft Classes inspired by Waldorf education

Our Program Includes:
- A truly mixed-age preschool/daycare experience for children (aged 0-5).
- A five day a week (Monday through Friday) program.
- A 2–6½ hour program beginning at 9am.
- Before or after care as needed.
- Our daycare utilizes a curriculum inspired by Waldorf Early Childhood Education with two teachers (rather than a teacher and an assistant) with Waldorf and LifeWays training and experience.
- A very small teacher-to-child ratio of 1-to-4 maximum.
- Continuity of care for several years with a cozy “extended family” feeling.
- A program designed around being outdoors in our wonderfully mild climate.
- Healthy, organic, freshly prepared sit-down meals and snacks served family style to promote healthy, adventurous eating.
- Our “green preschool” features a garden setting, landscaped in largely edible, scented, and drought-tolerant plants and trees.
- Plenty of opportunities for creative sand, dirt, and water play in an established garden, which is home to many birds and bugs.
- A “food-centric” approach, which includes organic gardening, cooking from scratch, composting, vermiculture, baking, and eating consciously.
- An allergy friendly environment. We accommodate all allergies & are trained to treat allergies on site as arranged with parent.
- Fun, laughter, poetry, puppetry, song, seasonal activities and surprises!
